In Year One we have been making a range of 3D shapes such as a cube, cuboid, squared based pyramid, and triangular prism. We created the 3D shape models using cocktail sticks to represent the edges and jelly sweets to represent the vertices. We built the models and then counted the number of edges, faces, and vertices each shape had. We displayed some amazing teamwork and Miss Bird was so proud of how well we worked together.
NEWS: Year 1 have a break in.......
Date: 1st Dec 2020 @ 4:01pm
Year 1 came in on Monday 30th November to their classrooms in a mess! There has been a break in and the children have been using the clues they found around the classroom to solve the mystery........
Who broke into Year 1?
The clues the children found were; a map, gloves, newspaper and a voice recording.
After lots of discussion the children decided that there were 2 people that broke into our classroom, they were Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len from the story "What the Ladybird Heard".

Year 1 was taken over by minibeasts on Friday 20th November.
The children were very excitied to come into school dressed as their favourite minibeast. We started off the morning by meeting some intresting minibeasts and finding out lots of new facts. The children met ; Marge the millipede, Matilda the snail, Charlie and Lola the cockroaches and Charlotte the tarantula.
They also got an extra surprise from Mr Tickle the snake. We know he isn't a minibeast but the children were really excited ( and brave) holding him.
In the afternoon we perfomed our minibeast dance that we have been practising.
Please have a look through our pictures to see how much fun we had on minibeast day.

Our Rainbow Day 1T - World Mental Health Day
Date: 13th Oct 2020 @ 4:00pm
To mark World Mental Health Day on Friday 9th October , Miss Theo's class thought about all the different feelings we have. We then read the story "Ruby's Worry" by Tom Percival and discussed how it is important to talk to someone about our worries. If we share our worries then it helps to reduce them or make them go away. The children then participated in some breathing techniques such as the balloon breathing, petal breathing and hand breathing to help us when we are feelind stressed or anxious about something.
Finally we made our own little worry monster, the children enjoyed creating their own monsters and putting them on the tables to help them through the day.
Have a look at our super worry mosters!
